| Solidarity rally with the Egyptian people in Jakarta |

A demonstration to show solidarity and support for people power movement in Egypt has been held in front of Egyptian Embassy in Jakarta, on 28 January 2011.
About 30 Indonesian people gathered in downtown Jakarta to show their solidarity with Egyptian people and convey their deep condolences to those who killed and wounded in anti-Mubarak protests across Egypt.
![]() They held posters reading “Stop oppressing the people of Egypt! Give them freedom! The also handed out the wreath as a symbol of their condolences and honour to the martyrs of Egypt. “We, as the people of the Republic Indonesia, the third largest democratic country in the world, cannot remain mute and just watch what has been happening in Egypt day today. We should show our solidarity with the courageous people of Egypt. We believe that they are fighting not only for their freedom, but for freedom of the Arab world as well as Muslim world. Their freedom will lead to the freedom of Palestine as well as the freedom of the whole region,” said Mujtahid Hashem, the coordinator of the demonstration which is held under the banner “Indonesian Solidarity for the People Power Movement in Egypt. |
